Nepal Clinches Victory in Women's T20 Quadrangular Series, Winning by 6 Wickets

Kathmandu: In the inaugural match of the MCA Women's T20 Quadrangular Series, Nepal emerged triumphant against Hong Kong with a six-wicket victory.

The game, held at the Bayuemas Oval Cricket Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, saw Nepal successfully chase down Hong Kong's target of 85 runs in 15.5 overs while losing four wickets in the process.

Samjhana Kumari Khadka played a vital role, notching an unbeaten 36 runs with five fours off 36 balls. Debutante Puja Mahat showcased her abilities, contributing 16 runs and also securing a wicket. Captain Rubina Chhetri Belbase added 10 runs to Nepal's total. Hong Kong conceded 13 extra runs during Nepal's inning.

Winning the toss earlier, Nepal elected to bowl. In the first innings, Hong Kong concluded their batting with a score of 84 runs in 19.1 overs, losing all their wickets. Nepal conceded an extra four runs to Hong Kong. Ka Ying Chan of Hong Kong scored 34 runs, followed by Shing Yan Dorothea Chan's 16 runs. The remaining players couldn't make significant contributions. Nepal granted Hong Kong an additional four runs.

In the bowling department, Sita Magar of Nepal single-handedly secured five wickets, giving away only 16 runs in four overs. Indu Barma captured two wickets, while Kabita Kunwar, Puja, and Rubina each took one wicket.

The Nepali team also includes Bindu Rawal, Kabita Joshi, Kajol Shrestha, Apsari Begam, and Ashmina Karmacharya. The tournament features host Malaysia, Nepal, Hong Kong, and Kuwait as part of preparations for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia qualifier scheduled to take place in Malaysia from August 31.

Sita Rana Magar was recognized as the player of the match. In another match held on the same day between Malaysia and Kuwait, the host secured an eight-wicket victory against Kuwait.

Nepal is scheduled to face Kuwait in their second match tomorrow.
